If you are planning a catamaran charter Greece offers a wide choice of sailing regions, and the “best” island depends on what you want from the week. This short FAQ helps you narrow the choice before you request availability.
Which Greek islands are best for a catamaran charter?
There is no single best island. The better question is which region fits your trip. Astra Yachting offers charters in six cruising areas:
- Cyclades: the classic island-hopping area, including Mykonos, Paros and Santorini.
- Ionian Islands: including Corfu and Lefkada.
- Saronic Gulf: close to Athens, which suits a shorter or first-time trip.
- Dodecanese, Sporades and Crete: good for longer trips and for sailors who want quieter waters.
Each region has its own page on our site, so you can compare the islands in more detail.
Why choose a catamaran for the Greek islands?
Catamarans are popular for group and family charters because of their wide deck and shared living space. They suit guests who want room to relax in the anchorages. Our fleet includes catamarans such as the Lagoon 500, the Lagoon Fly and the Leopard 80. See the full catamaran charters in Greece page for the current selection.
Which region is best for a first catamaran charter?
If you are new to sailing, consider a skippered charter in the Saronic Gulf or the Ionian. Both regions have a dedicated 7-day itinerary on our site to help you plan the route. If you want the best-known islands, the Cyclades are the usual first choice.
When is the best time to charter a catamaran in Greece?
Our charter season runs from April to October. In summer, the Aegean can be affected by the meltemi, a seasonal wind. Check the forecast for your dates and discuss the route with our team before you confirm.
Do I need a skipper?
Not necessarily. We offer bareboat, skippered, crewed and cabin charters. A skipper is a good option if you are less experienced or want local knowledge of the route. You can read more about yacht charter formats in general before you decide.
How do I book?
Choose your region, your charter type and your yacht, then contact our team to request availability. We confirm the details with you before the booking is made.
